On Tuesday, September 14, the names of the new Praemium Imperiale Laureates were announced in Rome, London, Paris, Berlin, New York and Tokyo. The recipients are as follows:

▪Painting           Sebastião Salgado  (Brazil/France)
▪Sculpture         James Turrell           (U. S. A.)
▪Architecture    Glenn Murcutt       (Australia)
▪Music               Yo-Yo Ma                  (U. S. A.)
▪Theatre/Film No recipient

In Theatre/Film, due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, a number of candidates were unable to meet the requirements for the award, and therefore “No recipient” was selected this year.

The artists are recognized and awarded for their achievements, for the impact they have had internationally on the arts, and for their role in enriching the global community.

The Grant for Young Artists was announced on September 14 at a press conference in Rome, and 2021 recipient of the Grant is The Advanced Training School of the Central Institute for Restoration in Italy.
