TOKYO IDOL FESTIVAL 2022

Introduction

The ‘TOKYO IDOL FESTIVAL’ (TIF). Now renowned for being the world's largest idol festival held in Odaiba, Tokyo.

In 2010, idols had made a huge comeback and the phrase ‘Idol Sengoku Jidai’ was coined. This huge boom marked the beginning of Japan’s first ever large-scale idol festival, which was held in Shinagawa, Tokyo.

With the change of the Japanese era from ‘Heisei’ to ‘Reiwa’ in 2019, the festival location also moved to Odaiba, attracting about 90,000 visitors that year. This being the direct result of the rising idol boom.

After the first ever cancellation of the event due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was moved to October for the first time last year. It challenged through both with on-site visitors and online streaming too.

And now, for the first time in three years, it will be held in the summer this year.

TIF will continue to push forward with the unchanging goal of enlivening and spreading the idol boom in various new ways, while proactively making attempts to overcome the headwinds.
