Fuji Television’s film, VILLON’S WIFE, was awarded Best Director at this year’s Montreal World Film Festival.
Director Kichitaro Negishi was present to accept the prize. Also attending the festivities was lead actor, Tadanobu Asano. VILLON’S WIFE is based on a short story by Japanese literary great, Osamu Dazai, to commemorate the centennial of his birth. It is a beautiful rendition of the relationship between a talented but destructive writer, and his faithful wife who comprehends his weaknesses and accepts him for who he is. The film is scheduled to be released nationwide on October 10th.
