The 27th Praemium Imperiale Winners and the Grant for Young Artists Announced

The winners of the 27th Praemium Imperiale were announced in Berlin, Rome, New York, London, Paris and Tokyo by the Japan Art Association on Thursday, September 10. The names of the winners are as follows:

Painting Category: Tadanori Yokoo (Japan)
Sculpture Category: Wolfgang Laib (Germany)
Architecture Category: Dominique Perrault (France)
Music Category: Mitsuko Uchida (The United Kingdom)
Theatre/Film Category: Sylvie Guillem (France)
2015 Grant for Young Artists: The Yangon Film School (Myanmar / Headquarters: Berlin, Germany).

The Praemium Imperiale is an annual award given by the Japan Art Association for global achievement in the arts. Since its beginning in 1989, the award has become a mark of the highest international distinction. The awards ceremony will be held at Meiji Kinenkan in Tokyo, in the presence of Their Imperial Highnesses Prince and Princess Hitachi on October 21, 2015.
