Masahiro Nakai, representing SMAP, was the only Japanese invited to the Red Carpet Premiere in Los Angeles which took place on October 27, 2009. His report on the entire event will be aired on the November 23rd episode of SMAPxSMAP. On the same day in Tokyo, we had Lionel Richie in our studio at Fuji TV as a very special guest together with the rest of the four SMAP members, while Masahiro Nakai was with will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas at his house in L.A., who offered a song to SMAP. We connected L.A. and Tokyo live via satellite and recorded this precious talk session with Lionel Richie, will.i.am, and SMAP! Lionel talked about hidden stories for the very first time on how the legendary “We Are The World”, which Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie worked together very closely on was born, as well as on Michael himself. “Our appearance in SMAPxSMAP boosted our popularity! Why don’t we do it together Lionel?” said will.i.am. Lionel said “ will.i.am is one of the dearest fellows in L.A.!” They talked about their passion and love on music between Tokyo and L.A.
