Thursday, August 27―the results of the ContentAsia Awards 2026 held in Bangkok was announced. The Missing Train, an original short drama distributed on Fuji Television Network, Inc.’s (“Fuji TV”) vertical short-form drama platform FOD SHORT, has been awarded the Silver in the Best Microdrama Series Made in Asia category. For Fuji TV, this also represents its second consecutive year of recognition, following last year’s Silver Award for HEART ATTACK.
The ContentAsia Awards are owned and operated by ContentAsia, a 20-year-old information platform curated to offer insights into Asia’s content environment. The Awards were launched in 2020, building upon ContentAsia’s unparalleled connection with Asia’s regional media industry, and bringing the brand’s expertise and integrity into Asia’s Awards space. The Awards are 100% judged by industry peers with hands-on knowledge and experience of the creative & production process. This year, more than 500 entries were submitted from 14 countries and regions, with over 180 titles nominated across 35 categories.
The Missing Train is a short drama (70 episodes) currently streaming exclusively on FOD SHORT. Set within the confined space of a train that never stops, this vertical-format suspense drama depicts the psychology of individuals confronting “secrets they could never reveal.” As FOD SHORT’s first original horror-suspense production, the series incorporates a number of unsettling elements, including the presence of a mysterious child whose appearance is always followed by an incident, a train with no known destination, and a succession of unfolding mysteries that keep viewers engaged. Viewers are also drawn into the story as if they were passengers on the train, and through its unpredictable developments and the distinctive structure of vertical short-form drama, the series has captivated a wide audience.
Also, this year’s Fuji TV nominations were Nep League for “Best Original Game Show Made in Asia” and Growing Up: The Boundary Between Us for “Best Microdrama Series Made in Asia.”

This drama began with the concept of a train that never stops—where passengers cannot get off, and one by one, they mysteriously disappear. It is a highly original and challenging horror project, also notable as a rare vertical-format drama. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the cast, including Yuka Sugai and Takuya Kusakawa, and to the outstanding staff led by Director Nozaki, who also wrote the script. Their passion and playful creativity brought this thrilling and remarkable work to life. Vertical-format dramas are still a relatively new genre in Japan, but we believe they hold tremendous potential and are expanding globally.
