The hit drama The Confidence Man JP aired from April 2018, has grown into a major franchise with sequels, feature films, special episodes, and spin-off dramas.
Now, a South Korean remake titled “CONFIDENCE MAN KR” has officially been greenlit! Furthermore, starting Saturday, September 6, the show will also be available on Prime Video in over 240 countries and regions worldwide. This marks a major step in global content expansion for Fuji Television Network, Inc. (hereinafter ‘Fuji TV’).
The lead role will be played by Park Min Young, a popular actress known for dramas such as Marry My Husband. She will be joined by Park Hee-soon and Joo Jong-hyuk. The series will be produced by TME Group, co-produced by the fifthwall studio and ghost4. It’s a stylish crime comedy brought to life with the unique pacing and stunning visuals only Korean productions can deliver. Featuring original elements unique to the Korean remake, the series is guaranteed to attract widespread attention to both the original and the new version.

The Confidence Man JP is an original con game series written by Ryota Kosawa. Centered around the themes of greed and money, the story follows three swindlers—Dahko (Masami Nagasawa), Boku-chan (Masahiro Higashide), and Richard (Fumiyo Kohinata)—who appear to be ordinary, upstanding citizens on the surface.
Set against the glamorous worlds of various industries, this exhilarating entertainment piece follows a bold and outlandish scheme to swindle massive sums of money from people consumed by greed.
The Monday 9 p.m. drama consistently delivered strong ratings, while the film series—including The Confidence Man JP -Episode of the Hero- (2022)—has drawn over 9.5 billion yen in total box office revenue across three titles, sustained by a devoted fan base.
This summer, Fuji TV’s new President and CEO, Kenji Shimizu, touched on the company’s renewed commitment to developing content-driven business strategies―with a particular focus on expanding into the global market.
While Fuji TV has previously launched international remakes of its shows, including Iron Chef and RICH MAN, POOR WOMAN, this marks the first time the company will deliver a live-action South Korean remake not only through broadcast and streaming within Korea, but also via global distribution on Prime Video. This move represents a major step forward in accelerating the international expansion of one of Fuji TV’s flagship franchises, The Confidence Man JP.
We invite you to stay tuned for its continued rise and the future of Fuji TV’s global content business strategy.
※In South Korea, the series will be broadcast domestically on TV Chosun and streamed on Coupang Play.
■Ryota Kosawa (Screenwriter/The Confidence Man JP) comments, “What you see isn’t always the truth. What’s real, and what’s a lie? Now, a new band of lovable con artists is about to land in South Korea. Having a South Korean remake has been a dream of mine ever since we began creating the original Japanese version. I’m deeply grateful that, over time, this project came to fruition thanks to the efforts of a highly skilled director, writer, and team, and an extraordinary cast beyond my expectations. I can’t wait to see how the story unfolds in this new version. Let’s deceive—and be deceived—together. Welcome to the world of ‘CONFIDENCE MAN KR.’ And yes…this news is probably true.”
■Kentaro Shibuya, Head of Content Business Department, Fuji Television Network, Inc. comments, “At the Content Business Department, we are committed not only to the domestic and international sale of content, but also to expanding distribution channels in the global market and developing new avenues through collaboration with external partners. Our goal is to create a proactive and multi-dimensional business design. The fact that the original drama The Confidence Man JP has been recognized overseas, adapted into a remake, and distributed worldwide marks a long-cherished milestone in our business development. We hope this will serve as a springboard for our future content strategy, and we invite you to look forward to what’s to come.”
