The 2014 winners of the Praemium Imperiale arts awards have been announced by the Japan Art Association on July 16, 2014.
The 2014 Praemium Imperiale Laureates are:
Painting Category: Mr. Martial Raysse (France)
Sculpture Category: Mr. Giuseppe Penone (Italy)
Architecture Category: Mr. Steven Holl (USA)
Music Category: Mr. Arvo Pärt (Estonia)
Theatre/Film Category: Mr. Athol Fugard (South Africa)
2014 Grant for Young Artists: The Zinsou Foundation (Benin)
The Praemium Imperiale is an annual award given by the Japan Art Association for global achievement in the arts. Since its beginning in 1989, the award has become a mark of the highest international distinction. The awards ceremony will take place in Tokyo on October 15, 2014.
