Tatsuya Kato from “QUEEN”- Production and Planning

Q Which Japanese Kanji character would you choose to express the drama series “QUEEN”?

A I would choose the character “愛” (Ai) which means love or affection in English.

Q Why did you choose this character in particular?

A I think that most scandals occur as a result of one’s strong desire or emotional dedication for something specific. For example, when human beings betray one another, ‘love’ can turn to ‘hate.’ The drama series “QUEEN” has been produced with all of this in mind, and the characters depict various kinds of ‘love’ in different ways.

Q If you had the chance to film “QUEEN” in a foreign country as a spin-off, which location would be your ideal choice?

A In the drama series, the crisis management team rarely has days off. So, it might be good to have a spin-off episode, in which the characters go on a nice vacation somewhere, and a scandal of some kind suddenly occurs in the midst of the trip?

Q Are there any international actors or actresses that you are fond of?

A I think it would have to be Jessica Chastain. As an actress famous for her roles in films such as ‘Zero Dark Thirty,’ she is a competent and classy woman, who has been a good role model for the characters in the drama series. It might also be interesting to have an episode in which Yuko Takeuchi co-star with a foreign actor or actress.

Q Lastly, could you give us a message for our international viewers?

A As the drama series has been produced based on Japan’s most fashionable and trendy culture, I hope that our international viewers will be able to see and recognize Japan’s goodness. I also hope that the series is being an inspirational one for all women who are working hard in society.
