The “5 Stars of Ukiyo-e Artists -Utamaro, Sharaku, Hokusai, Hiroshige and Kuniyoshi” exhibition will be held at The Ueno Royal Museum.

Kitagawa Utamaro captured the grace and elegance of women, while Toshusai Sharaku gained fame for his striking and dramatic portraits of actors. Katsushika Hokusai expressed the wonders of the world through landscapes, flowers and birds, people, while Utagawa Hiroshige breathed new life into “Ukiyo-e” with his iconic depictions of famous places. Finally, Utagawa Kuniyoshi left a lasting impression with his bold and humorous artistic style.

This exhibition features approximately 140 works, highlighting the masterpieces of these renowned artists, celebrated for their portrayals of beautiful women, actors, landscapes, and more. Enjoy the spectacular showcase of five iconic “Ukiyo-e” masters who brought color to the Edo period.
